CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - From Loveland to Northern Kentucky and from Delhi to Milford, the community is invited to walk Greater Cincinnati labyrinths from 1-2 p.m. in celebration of World Labyrinth Day, on Saturday, May 4.

No reservations are necessary and walking the labyrinths is free.

A labyrinth is  a unicursal (single) path on the ground, usually circular in shape, which is used as a walking meditation, for self-reflection, and as a way to reduce stress.

World Labyrinth Day is an annual global event celebrated each year on the first Saturday in May

Taft Museum of Art displays students’ artwork at Main Library

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Taft Museum of Art’s annual Artists Reaching Classrooms (ARC) exhibition is on display through May 16 in the atrium of the Main Library. The exhibit showcases art, including painting, photography, digital design and ceramics, created by students from 12 area high schools.

Each work is accompanied by an artist’s statement, providing an explanation of the student’s process and intent. ARC is a program offered by the Taft Museum of Art that immerses high school art students in Cincinnati’s visual arts community and exposes them to art careers and professionals. Scholarships are being awarded Wednesday, May 1, during a 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. reception at the Main Library.

Gateway April 30 Expo Connects Parents with Employers

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) — Students and parents attending the Advanced Manufacturing Expo at Gateway Community and Technical College April 30 can learn firsthand from local manufacturers about the bright job outlook for manufacturing careers.

Six local employers are scheduled to attend the education expo at Gateway’s Boone Campus in Florence April 30. They include DHL, Mubea, Mazak, Ellison Group, the Center for Integrative Natural Science and Mathematics, and Virtual Manufacturing Services.

The expo is open to the public and begins at 5 p.m. Participants can tour Gateway’s high-tech Integrated Manufacturing Center, Computerized Manufacturing and Machining Lab, and Welding Lab between 5 and 6 p.m., and meet with local employers between 6 and 7 p.m. Gateway will conduct an information session on college credit that can be earned in high school from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Apprenticeship information will be shared from 6:30 to 7 p.m.

HYDE PARK, OH (FOX19) - The fourth annual exhibit dedicated to the tradition of ceramic tiles will feature over 1,000 dynamic tiles is set to open in Hyde Park on Saturday.

artTILE 2013 will open on Saturday, April 27 at indigenous, a handcrafted gallery and showcase tiles ranging from low-relief 2-inch tiles to highly sculptural tiles~ the common denominator, a slab of clay.

artTILE 2013 is an invitational exhibit featuring over 30 exceptional artists specially selected to display a wide range of designs, sizes, prices, and techniques offering a collection with great scope & depth. Hand-built, carved, pressed, stamped, molded, and one-of-a-kind tiles will be on view. Styles range from whimsical and contemporary to the traditional aesthetics inherent to the arts & crafts movement. Imagery is also as diverse, from beautiful nature inspired motifs to thoughtfully rendered architectural landmarks to modern, abstract graphics.

Soap box racers gearing up for annual race this weekend

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Local children who are curious about soap box racing will be able to try the sport on Saturday, April 27.

Kids ages 7 thru 17 are invited to try out Soap Box Derby racing at the Red Dog Grand Prix in Madisonville.  CSBD has a number of cars to drive on the same hill as the Cincinnati Championship race.

Drivers must be ages 7 through 17 to drive and a partent or guardian must sign a liability waiver in person. The morning race begins at 9 a.m. Drivers report at 7:30 am. The afternoon race begins after morning race, approx 1 pm. Drivers report at noon.

There is a $35 per race fee to drive but anyone may watch the race for free.
