Glass art event 'Friday Night Blows' to benefit Crayons 2 Computers

OAKLEY, OH (FOX19) - Queen City Glass Arts is inviting the public to a special ‘Friday Night Blows’ event in collaboration with Crayons 2 Computers.

'Friday Night Blows' is being held at Brazee Street Studios in Oakley on Friday, April 26 from 6:30pm - 9:30pm.

‘Friday Night Blows’ is a performance arts event at which a team of glass blowers work together to blow, form and sculpt hot molten glass into sculptures shaped to highlight the theme of the evening. To highlight C2C’s mission to provide children the tools they deserve to succeed in school,  this month the artists will create sculptures made from molten glass which will be donated to the organization.

The event is free and open to the public and all attendees are encourages to brings new school and or art supplies to donate.

Public Library’s first Comic Con is May 5

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Comic book fans assemble! It’s time for the first Comic Con event Sunday, May 5, from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. in the atrium at the Main Library. 

The Library is joining forces with Arcadian Comics & Games and the Friends of the Public Library to present an afternoon filled with a comic book swap, booths, a comic book exhibit, a panel discussion with writers and illustrators, the Comic Con Drawing Contest award ceremony, the opportunity to take pictures with your favorite characters (Stormtroopers, Mandalorian Mercs, X-Men characters and more), and free comic books in celebration of Free Comic Book Day.

Police investigate report of man exposing self

OAKLEY, OH (FOX19)- Police are
investigating reports of a man exposing himself in Oakley Square.

A call came in
around 6:30 a.m. Friday of a man standing outside of Pure Barre on Madison Road wearing dark
clothing, and exposing himself.

The man took off before
officers arrived.

You can get free bagels from Bruegger's

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -You can get three free bagels on Thursday at participating Bruegger's locations.

Guests can claim their free bagels by visiting the Bruegger's Bagels Facebook page and click on the "3 Free Bagel" tab to print a coupon or display it on a smartphone at the register of a local bakery. Email club members will receive the coupon via email. 

Specially marked collection canisters will be placed in each Bruegger's Bagels bakery so guests can donate to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals when they come in to get your free bagels.

Coupons are redeemable until 2 p.m.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)  - Author Heather Shumaker will be at the Blue Ash Branch Library at 7 p.m. Monday, April 29.  She will talk about her book, “It’s OK Not To Share and Other Renegade Rules for Raising Competent and Compassionate Kids."

Withrow University High School Earns NCA CASI Accreditation

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Withrow University High School has earned accreditation from the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), an accreditation division of AdvancED.    

“Accreditation demonstrates to our students, parents and community that we are focused on raising student achievement, providing a safe and enriching learning environment, and maintaining an efficient and effective operation staffed by highly qualified educators,” stated Withrow University High School Principal Sharon Johnson. 

Withrow University joins two other Cincinnati Public Schools that have earned this accreditation, Walnut Hills High School and the School for Creative and Performing Arts.
