Programs at Public Library lead up to first Comic Con event in May | Arts & Culture

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County is pleased to announce its first Comic Con will be held May 5 at the Main Library. However, until that illustrious day arrives, writers and illustrators can get their superhero-sci-fi-zombie-manga fix with a wide range of workshops and contests being held during March and April. Cincinnati Library Comic Con Drawing Contest (Kids 9-12, Teens, and Adults)
Show off your graphic art skills. One entry per person. Drawings can be in color or black & white and must be no larger than 15-by-20 inches. No digital submissions or computer images will be accepted.
When: March 1-31
Theme: Graphic Novels & Comic Books
Judges: David Michael Beck (Star Wars, Jonah Hex) and Tony Moore (Walking Dead, Deadpool, Battle Pope)

Graphic Novel Drawing Workshop with David Michael Beck (Adults only)
From script to finished product, take advantage of learning from a true expert! David Michael Beck has illustrated for Star Wars, Jonah Hex, Justice League of America, and many more comic books. His art resides in the private collections of George Lucas, Hugh Hefner and Bill Cosby, to name a few, and now he is coming to the Main Library to share his knowledge and offer valuable drawing tips. This program is two sessions in length. Participants should bring their own paper, pencils, erasers, and markers. Registration is required. Each session will last approximately two hours and 45 minutes. Bring your own paper, pencils, erasers, and markers.

Learn the strategies, tactics and style behind writing for comic books.

Graphic Novels: DIY (Adults only)
Learn to construct and publish your own comic books and graphic novels.
