Recycle your old electronics and plastic products for free at the One Stop Drop

NORWOOD, OH (FOX19) - Keep Cincinnati Beautiful and Whole Foods Market are inviting residents to take part in a unique recycling event, aptly named the “One Stop Drop”, in honor of Earth Month.

Residents are encouraged to participate by bringing hard-to-recycle items like electronic waste and plastic grocery bags to one convenient drop off location for free recycling.

One Stop Drop will take place on Saturday, April 13 from 10am - 2pm at the Whole Foods Market parking lot at Rookwood Commons in Norwood.

Acceptable items include:

  • Electronic waste
  • Cell phones and chargers
  • Number 5 plastics such as butter tubs and yogurt containers
  • Plastic grocery bags
  • Used writing instruments like pens, Sharpies, Expo markers, and caps

Local electronics recycler 2TRG will provide free recycling for a wide variety of electronic waste including computer monitors, audio equipment, printers, and more.

Public Library receives $111,000 from Duke Energy for reducing energy consumption

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - On December 11, Duke Energy presented the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County with a check for $111,000 as a rebate for reducing energy consumption at the Main Library.

These savings resulted from the Library’s participation in Duke Energy’s SmartBuilding Advantage ® program. This program used building energy usage interval data and on-site assessments to identify and analyze energy efficiency opportunities at the Main Library. Following program recommendations, the Library replaced T12 lights with T8 lights and implemented improvements to its boiler plant in order to generate the highest energy savings in the shortest amount of time for the lowest cost.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Keep Cincinnati Beutiful and Whole Foods invited residents to take part in an electronic waste recycle event over the weekend.

The “One Stop Drop”, was held Saturday in honor of America Recycles Day. Residents were encouraged to participate by bringing hard-to-recycle items like electronic waste to one convenient drop off location for free recycling. 2TRG, an e-StewardsÒ certified electronics recycler, provided free recycling for a wide variety of electronic waste including computer monitors, audio equipment, printers, and more. They collected over 17,000 pounds of e-waste and dozens of TVs.

The e-waste will be diverted from the landfill and recycled locally at 2TRG’s Blue Ash facility.

MOUNT LOOKOUT, OH (FOX19) - The Cincinnati Observatory will show you the stars during Great Outdoor Weekend happening September 22&23. 

Gaze through the beautiful 1843 Mitchel Telescope and see the Moon that Saturday and Sunday night. Both programs include tours of the historic buildings and informal presentations.  Amateur astronomers will be on hand with their personal telescopes to help you explore the universe.  Bring your own telescope for expert help setting it up and finding celestial treasures or simply bring your eyes and imagination.

On Sunday September 23 from 1-4pm,The Observatory will also be open for daytime history tours and safe solar viewing through the old telescope.  No reservations required for any of these programs.

Recycle your old and used electronics for free in Hamilton County

HAMILTON COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - The Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste District’s free residential computer equipment and television drop-off program will be open on Saturday, August 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the CSI/Republic Transfer Station located at 10751 Evendale Drive.

This program will not be open any other Saturday in August. 

Special weekend collection times are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the following Saturdays:

  • August 11
  • September 8
  • October 13

Hamilton County residents can also drop-off their unwanted computer equipment/TVs Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. through October 31, excluding holidays. Since the program opened on May 1, residents have recycled more than 68,000 pounds of electronic waste.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Want to view the Sun through the oldest telescope in the country?

The Cincinnati Observatory is hosting the final Sun-day, Sunday, Sundae event of the season.

The day includes hourly programs about the Sun, tours of our historic buildings, and safe viewing of sunspots and solar flares out of our 1843 telescope.

As a special treat, there will also be free sundaes seved for those in attendance.

Reservations are not required for this event.
