Mariemont Library holds Earth Day plant swap April 20

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Green thumbs and beginning gardeners alike are invited to bring plant cuttings and divisions to share with fellow gardeners at the Mariemont Branch Library Saturday, April 20, from 11 a.m. to noon, rain or shine, for an Earth Day plant swap.

While you're at the library, be sure to check out its collection of books on topics such as annuals, perennials, heirloom vegetables, and landscaping. Visit www.cincinnatilibrary.org/booklists/?id=gardening.

HYDE PARK, OH (FOX19) - The Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati (AFC) is offering a special opportunity to tour a grand Cincinnati home located at 2581 Grandin Road in Hyde Park. Four timed tours will be offered on Sunday, November 18 between 1 and 5 pm followed by an informational lecture.

This 9,400 square foot home was built by Elzner and Anderson in 1906. The house was built for Mary Hanna, daughter of Henry Hanna, a highly successful businessman and has many outstanding architectural features throughout the 17 rooms.

The tours will begin at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm, with a limited number of guests for each time slot. The lecture at 5:30 pm will include information about the house, architects, and original owners. Tour tickets are $45, lecture tickets are $40.

Community Garden returns to Keystone Park

Community Garden returns to Keystone Park

 

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - On Friday, April 20 Neyer Properties and community partners will be planting the Keystone Community Garden at Keystone Parke in Evanston.  Produce grown at the community garden will go be donated to the Over-the-Rhine (OTR) and Walnut Hills Kitchens and Pantry.

Around fifty volunteers will be working Friday morning to till and plant a 60- by 90-foot garden on vacant land located off Realistic Avenue in Evanston, between Neyer Properties’ Keystone Parke headquarters and the American Red Cross regional headquarters.  The garden is visible from I-71 south of the Dana Avenue exit ramp. Volunteers will be planting peppers, corn, potatoes, green beans, lettuce, cucumbers, and onions.  Volunteers planted their first garden on the property last year.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The Stockpiling Moms will teach you the basics of strategically using your coupons to save big and dine out on a dime.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Public Library, these free workshops will be offered at select Library locations in April, May, and June.  Registration is recommended, by calling the hosting Library directly, or visiting http://programs.cincinnatilibrary.org/ to register online.
